Gauge Blocks

Gauge Blocks also known as slip gauges are used as the practical standard of length for the calibration or dimensional reference of measuring tools and instruments because of their ease of use, dimensional stability and relatively low cost.

Gauge blocks are used for regular inspection and calibration of the small tools such as micrometers, calipers and dial indicators used in manufacturing industry and research institutes as they are for calibrating large measuring instruments such as coordinate measuring machines.

Gauge blocks are available in various grades, depending on their intended use. The grading criterion is tightness of tolerance on their sizes; thus higher grades are made to tighter tolerances and have higher accuracy and precision.
